Hanover Park awarded grants:

The Hanover Park Fire Department recently received two $500 grants from the National Academy of Certified Hazardous Materials Managers and the Chicago chapter. The Sam's Club Community Grant Program also awarded the department $2,000. The funds will help purchase perishable supplies to restock the Fire Corps' on-scene rehabilitation vehicle, which helps firefighters cool down and rehydrate while being medically monitored. An average of 100 U.S. firefighters die each year in the line of duty, and about half are due to cardiac events triggered by heat stress.
