Bailout won't save autoworker jobs
The government is now in control of two of the big three automakers. Why is our government in the car business? The president and his union supporters have all been so excited when he was elected as we now have a president who will help the little guy, help the union men and women who work so hard and yet complain they get the short end of the stick.
These union men and women contributed heavily to his campaign and pushed for him to get elected so they could have a voice. When Chrysler, and now GM, were prepared to go into bankruptcy to save their companies, the government would not let them. Instead they gave them billions of taxpayer dollars to stay afloat; this was good because now the union president we elected saved all these union jobs right? Wrong.
The government gave these automakers our money so they could gain control and tell them how and when to file bankruptcy. How many jobs has this president saved now, with 13 plant closings and countless dealers for both Chrysler and GM? How many union jobs will be lost? General Motors is presenting the government with their bankruptcy plan and it includes wage and benefit concessions from union men and women. The unions alone can thank themselves for electing away their own jobs and no one else. Nice job, UAW.
