Fire pit smoke isn't that significant

Before outdoor fire pits are banned, Rosemary Glaubitz (Jan. 10) should work on banning jet aircraft, diesel trucks, coal fired power plants, the automobile, all refrigerants, forest fires, volcanic eruptions and don't forget family camping trips, campfires at Scout camp and candles.

I don't think a few fire pits are going to make much difference. Perhaps some people may have a problem with a neighbor who has an outdoor fire pit?

What'll politicians want to ban next?

So now that the smoking ban is in place, what will our politicians ban next?

What's the next freedom we lose under the guise of "we are the government; we know what's best for you."

It seems like gun bans will be next. I have shot guns for 30 years. I have never committed a crime. I belong to shooting clubs and have met a lot of really great people.

Why do Illinois politicians try to make me a criminal or deny me my right to defend myself?

Heaven help us if we get national health care. We will have the government telling us who can and cannot get care, and we'll have to wait six weeks for an appointment.

When was the last time you read the Constitution? I re-read it a week ago. It's amazing. Yet these people elected to uphold it seem to throw it away after their first day in office.

Isn't anyone else frustrated like me? I am beginning to think most Americans don't care and they will not educate themselves. It's really sad.

Please, do research on your candidate before the primary on Feb. 5. Please don't vote for someone because they are good looking or they are charismatic or the television people like them.

Some of the not so well known candidates like Ron Paul have some interesting things to say. If you read about them or look them up on YouTube, you might agree.
