Sox set Fantasy Camp dates
The Chicago White Sox will host their first Sox Fantasy Camp at their new Camelback Ranch facility in 2010.
The baseball complex is situated on 141 acres in Glendale, Ariz., about 15 miles west of downtown Phoenix, and boasts the largest ballpark in the Cactus League.
The White Sox Fantasy Camp will take place from Jan. 10-17. Anyone 21 years of age or older can participate.
Each camp participant receives a personalized and authentic White Sox uniform, as well as other camp gifts.
Participants will receive instruction from former White Sox greats, directed by former American League home run champion and Sox legend Bill Melton. They also will play in daily games and have the opportunity to participate in a "Hot Stove" question-and-answer session with White Sox broadcasters and front office executives.
"Hosting a fantasy camp at the Camelback Ranch will certainly be an unbelievable baseball experience for all campers," said Melton, who has helped manage similar fantasy camps for the past 15 years.
Lodging will be provided at the Renaissance Glendale Hotel and Spa. Shuttle service to and from the complex will be provided, as well as breakfast and lunch every day. There also will be opening, midweek and closing banquet dinners for all participants.
The cost for the seven-day Fantasy Camp is $4,195, which does not include transportation to and from Glendale, Arizona.
