Sales tax already too high in suburbs

In a recent "Our View" editorial, you advocate raising the suburban sales tax as part of the solution to funding our public transportation system.

My question is: In Schaumburg, our sales tax is already 8.7 percent and 10.75 percent in restaurants; would the increase you're endorsing be added to these taxes?

And if they are added to our present tax rate, how much do you think will ultimately be enough?

When we pay $10 for an article, then that gets increased to $12.50 or $13, or $14 because our sales tax keeps going up?

How can that be good for the state, the village, when people stop coming to Illinois because of our repressive sales tax system?

And what about the people who live here, the seniors, the people who don't make $80,000 a year? Can they really afford to shop in an area where the sales tax doubles the cost of any goods?

What on earth are you guys thinking? The sales tax is already too high.

Thank goodness for our governor, who refuses to listen to all the greedy politicians who keep wanting to get into our pockets. He promised not to raise the sales tax, and he has kept his word.
