Kiwanis made bad choice in Ayers
I was surprised to realize the Elgin Kiwanis was not only nonprofit but also "non-American."
The article discussing the May 12 public meeting with Williams Ayers certainly appears justifiably "non-American." As young adults we participate in silly adventures; that's part of our growth toward becoming responsible adults.
Thank goodness we are a society of forgivers. Michael Phelps can verify that our country is a forgiving one. However, a young adult pictured holding a bong and a young adult supporting and a member of a terrorist organization are not a parallel "silly" adventures.
Naperville had their heads on when they canceled Ayers' appearance but not the Elgin Kiwanis - and that's no peanuts.
