Woman's body found in Markham

MARKHAM -- Police in the southern Chicago suburb of Markham are trying to identify the body of a partially clothed woman in what may be that community's first homicide of the year.

Markham Police Chief Wade Ingram says passers-by discovered the woman's body in a heavily wooded area Sunday morning.

Ingram said the woman was black and appeared to have been in her 20s or 30s.

Ingram declined to give the suspected cause of death, but said officers were treating the case as a homicide.

An autopsy was scheduled for Monday.
