Brush up on your English grammar

To the editor: I believe many of our educators need a refresher course in English grammar and usage. An example of this is the sign from Elk Grove Village's Stevenson Elementary School placed on kindergartners' lawns. The heart with an apostrophe is incorrect. The word "loves", in this case, is not possessive nor a contraction.

How embarrassing for every one of the educators at Stevenson. How embarrassing that someone from the Daily Herald didn't catch it. No, a concerned mother from Bartlett caught it. Educators and proofreaders in Illinois -- do us all a favor and brush up on your English grammar and usage.
