Florida pair deny identity theft charges

A pair of Florida men pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges they used stolen credit cards to make more than $2,000 worth of purchases.

Tryee Lloyd, 27, and his uncle Garrias Lloyd, 46, both of Delray Beach, Fla., were arrested after an investigation by Lincolnshire police.

Lake County Assistant State's Attorney Mary Stanton said a Skokie man who works for Grainger, Inc., contacted police when he noticed unauthorized charges on his credit card. Police traced the purchases to a computer at Tryee Lloyd's residence and served a search warrant there Dec. 18, Stanton said.

Police confiscated two computers and seven hard drives, Stanton said, that revealed evidence of several purchases with the stolen card number.

Police said Tryee Lloyd told them during questioning he had received the number from his uncle.

Stanton said Garrias Lloyd admitted he took the number from an order the victim had placed with the company that employs him.

Both face up to seven years in prison if convicted, but would also be eligible for probation.

Tyree Lloyd is held on $50,000 bond; bond for Garrias Lloyd was set at $25,000.

Associate Judge Daniel Shanes scheduled a trial for June 8, and ordered both men to appear in court May 14.
