DCFS overburdened
I am writing regarding the two DCFS supervisors facing charges in the AJ Freund case. I worked with DCFS families and other troubled families for more than 20 years. I know that DCFS supervisors have way too many cases to handle properly. Case workers have way too many cases to manage appropriately.
There is not enough funding to support the current staff let alone to hire additional staff. There is also a woeful lack of funding for additional services.
Federal, state and local governments need to step up and make this funding available. What could be more important than our families and children? New stop lights? New fire trucks? More landscaping?
