Streamwood nets soccer win
Lenin Beltran scored 2 goals as Streamwood opened the boys soccer season Monday with a 5-1 nonconference win over Glenbard North at Millennum Field. Alex Perez, Matt Rasinski and Roma Patino each added goals for the Sabres, while Alex Aranda had 2 assists. Patino and Yuto Tsukida each added assists as well and Edgar Leyva had 6 saves in goal.
Boys soccer
Jacobs 1, CL Central 0: Luis Cabral scored off an assist from Sam McKee in the 74th minute as Jacobs opened the season with a win over CL Central. Danny Trevor had 4 saves for the Golden Eagles.
CL South 3, Woodstock 0: Jordan Innis scored twice in the first half and Jon Gutmann added a second-half goal to lead CL South to a win over the Blue Streaks in Fox Valley Conference Valley Division play. Gutman also had an assist for the Gators, as did Charlie Oliver. Zach Dalzell made 7 saves in goal for CLS.
Stagg 3, Bartlett 1: Garrett Dini scored the Hawks' lone goal in this season-opening nonconference loss. Mike Paparella had 2 saves in goal for Bartlett.
Girls golf
McHenry d. Huntley: Huntley's Katlyn Anderberg shot a 45 for medalist honors but the Red Raiders fell 205-227 to McHenry in a Fox Valley Conference match at Pinecrest.
Boys golf
St. Edward d. Richmond: Eric Winters and Michael Holevas each shot 39s as St. Edward scored a 169-198 nonconference win over Richmond at Villa Olivia. Steve Jones had 42 for the Green Wave.
Jacobs d. Marian Central: Danny Langland's medalist round of 34 led Jacobs to a 147-149 nonconference win over Marian at Randall Oaks. Scott Cahill had a 35 for the Golden Eagles, while Andrew Meyer had a 38 and Josh Kopka a 40.
DeKalb Invite: Larkin shot a 344 to finish eighth in the 12-team field at the DeKalb Invitational. Ryan Smith shot a 78 for the Royals to finish seventh. Geneva won the event with a 308. Burlington Central third with a 312.
