Szopa meets goal to lose 30 pounds
In September, Ron Szopa's scale finally hit 250.
That means the 53-year-old Elgin attorney met his original goal to lose 30 pounds.
"So I'm pretty pleased about that," he said.
He and his wife, Jamie, are still adjusting to their new daughter, Isabella, who was born in June.
"Since she was born, I haven't been walking like I should in the morning and I haven't been working out, but I'm still losing weight, which is good," Szopa said.
Szopa's blood sugar has stabilized around 100 -- a healthy number for a diabetic. Szopa will see his doctor later this month and plans to set his next weight-loss goal.
"I'm not anywhere near my 'ideal' weight, so the more I can lose, the better I'll be," he said.
