Remotely interesting: WBBM Channel 2 has hired Don Schwenneker as its weekend evening meteorologist, effective with the new year. Schwenneker comes to town from WTAE-TV in Pittsburgh.
John Idler has left WLS Channel 7, where he was vice president and general sales manager, to become president and general manager of WTVD-TV, the ABC affiliate in Raleigh-Durham, N.C.
End of the dial: WBEZ 91.5-FM will launch a new monthly performance series, "Chicago Public Radio Presents," on Jan. 9 with a live concert by the local band Office at Victory Gardens Biograph Theater, 2433 N. Lincoln Ave., Chicago. Tickets are $15, $10 for CPR members, available at chicagopublicradio.org.
Conservative-talk WIND 560-AM posted a 0.9 percent share of the overall audience 12 and older in monthly Arbitrend ratings released last week, while progressive WCPT 820-AM slid to a 0.4 share with its move to a new frequency.
