Ironic opposition to Edward Plainfield
Ironic indeed. The recent articles and letters to the editor from Jeffrey Brickman of Provena St Joseph, Barry Finn of Rush-Copley and Rick Mace, Adventist Bolingbrook, site irony in the actions of the Illinois Reform Commission.
Interesting how these CEOs of three area hospitals are claiming that the commission is playing politics.
The reason the commission was formed was to eliminate corruption, remove politics and create more transparency in the process. In order to carry out that mission, changes need to be made to an obviously flawed system, one that has long been fraught with corruption, political paybacks and favoritism.
Thanks to the courage of Edward CEO Pam Davis, she would not succumb to these types of tactics and instead sought to shed the light on this political board and its antics. It would seem these CEOs would rather the system stay broken so that further corruption and political pandering can continue.
I guess if you are willing to play by those rules, you may want to keep the current system in place.
I for one am thankful Pam Davis had the character to fight this corruption. Of course, she could have played their game and Edward would have a hospital in Plainfield by now, but at what price?
These CEOs seem to turn a blind eye to the more than 30,000 people who signed petitions in order to get a hospital in their community. Seems to me they are just trying to control the market through political means rather than recognize the need for this facility.
Ironic indeed.
