Man pulled from pond after half hour underwater in Harvard
Authorities say a 22-year-old McHenry County man was on life support after being pulled from the water at the Rock Creek Conservation area in northwest suburban Harvard.
Harvard Fire Protection District Lt. Don Carlson says the man spent about nearly half an hour underwater before divers pulled him from 10-foot-deep water about 25 feet from shore late Saturday afternoon.
The man, who was said to be a Harvard resident, was not breathing and had no pulse when divers pulled him from the water, but his pulse was restored by the time he arrived at Mercy Harvard Hospital. The man was later airlifted to Rockford Memorial Hospital.
Carlson would not speculate on how or why the man got into the water.
