TV reporter Shaw to head watchdog group

SPRINGFIELD -- A longtime investigative reporter on Chicago TV has been named to head a political watchdog group.

Andy Shaw will be executive director of the 86-year-old Better Government Association.

Shaw covered local, state and national politics for 26 years at WLS-TV before retiring recently. He spent a total of 37 years reporting in Chicago.

The BGA is a nonpartisan organization promoting ethical governing and politics.

Earlier this year the group won a lawsuit forcing former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich to disclose subpoenas his administration had received from federal prosecutors.

Shaw takes over June 1. He replaces Jay Stewart. Stewart is now Gov. Pat Quinn's top lawyer.
