Acrobatic trio brings Christian message

Three teens are bringing a high-voltage message from God to Naperville.

The energetic Christian pop music trio pureNRG bounces into Evangelical Free Church of Naperville, 1551 E. Hobson Road, on Friday for an enthusiastic, yet wholesome performance.

The pureNRG trio of Carolyne, Jordan and Caroline debuted last year with a self-titled CD released by Fervent Records and two DVDs. They often can be heard on Disney Radio.

The performance, which relies heavily on acrobatics and complex choreography, aims to please elementary and middle school students, said Sarah Clark, the church's director of communications.

"From an adult perspective, I don't know where they get all the energy," she said. "I think they (sing) half the songs upside down."

Group members say on their Web site: "Pure, positive energy will be the driving force of our group and our message will help bridge the gap between youths and adults. Our purpose is to teach kids to be Godly and provide a positive 'other' choice for our age group."

They perform songs with such titles as "Are You Ready?," "Any Which Way," "Here We Go Again," "Pray" and "It's Still Love."

"It's a very moral message. There's a lot of integrity to it," Clark said. "The parents like it. It's a safe message that they're hearing. But they're still having a lot of fun with it."

Organized by the children's family ministry and a team of volunteers, church leaders hope to draw 500 tweens to the event. Parents are welcome.

Clark just happened to see the group while visiting Disney World recently. She didn't know who they were, but their fans were screaming wildly for the group.

"They were bounding all over the stage," Clark said. "There was a lot of gymnastics. They have a real poppy sound - just a lot of fun."
