Teens plead guilty to abusing infant son
PEORIA -- Two central Illinois teenagers have pleaded guilty to abusing their 5-month-old son, allegedly biting his face and leaving him with fractures to more than a dozen ribs and to his leg.
Both 16-year-old Michael Luncsford and 18-year-old Stephanie M. Barton are eligible for probation after pleading guilty Monday to one count of aggravated domestic battery.
They could also face to up to 10 years in prison. Both are in custody pending sentencing in June.
Prosecutors say the couple admitted to police that they'd become frustrated with the child and shook and squeezed him.
Prosecutors say authorities learned of the baby's injuries when he was brought to a hospital in October because of fussing and crying.
It was not immediately clear who represents the teens.
