Pieces from historic Chicago building up for sale
The auction house Christie's says thousands of dollars worth of pieces from the Chicago Stock Exchange Building are going up for sale.
The building was designed by famed architect Louis Sullivan and completed in 1894. It was demolished in 1971 and 1972 after preservation efforts failed.
The items up for auction include cast- and wrought-iron elevator enclosure panels valued at as much as $30,000 each, and three leaded-glass ceiling panels that'll cost an estimated $7,000 to $10,000.
Christie's specialist Jeni Sandberg says she can't say how the auction house got the property.
The auction is scheduled for June 2 at Rockefeller Center in New York.
