Chicago police conduct survey on officer morale

The Chicago Police Department is conducing an online survey to see how officers feel about job stress.

Fraternal Order of Police Vice President Bill Dougherty says the survey is expected to give Superintendent Jody Weis a snapshot of overall department morale.

Another goal of the survey is to measure the success of pilot programs in the department.

The survey has more than 50 questions and is being conducted with researchers from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Officials with UIC and the police department say participants won't be identified by name, but will have to list their years of service and unit.

Police say results will be available by the end of the summer.
