Yes, violent images are part of problem

I found it interesting after reading your editorial about the tragedy at NIU and the "casual acceptance of violence in how we entertain ourselves" being an indication of our desensitization toward violence, that you would choose to run a picture of Keifer Sutherland pointing a handgun alongside a story about the FOX program "24" on the next page over.

There is some truth to your statement drawing a connection between the violent images we have immediate and continual access to across all media platforms and our attitude toward violence.

We should be deeply saddened by it, reject the sensationalism of it, work to prevent it and stop using it to sell newspapers, magazines, TV shows, movies and video games.
