Breathe new life into voiceless creatures

With National Volunteer Week just completed, I would like to acknowledge and express my sincere appreciation to the many outstanding volunteers who serve A.D.O.P.T. Animal Shelter for the many special animals who come through our doors. These men and women are the lifeline of our organization and embody the true spirit and commitment of volunteerism.

Volunteering at A.D.O.P.T. can certainly be challenging physically, and even more so emotionally, as we accept into our program so many special needs and seriously neglected animals, some who arrive all skin and bones, others so matted it is hard to tell there is a little body under all that hair, and still others who are untrusting of people due to years of being mistreated. The deep compassion and commitment of our volunteers, both at the shelter and within our foster home network, help breathe new life and spirit into these broken creatures.

In addition to our volunteer caregivers, we are fortunate to have many energetic and enthusiastic volunteers supporting our fundraising and public relations efforts. Without them, we could not provide the extraordinary animal care that has become the hallmark of our organization. While it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a community of committed, caring, and compassionate animal lovers to rescue and breathe new life into the many voiceless creatures that come through our doors. I am truly grateful to know and volunteer with such exceptional people.
