Sox put Quentin on DL; Wise to rejoin team today
Prior to tonight's game at Kansas City, the White Sox have placed outfielder Carlos Quentin on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to May 26) with plantar fasciitis in his left foot.
The White Sox also returned outfielder DeWayne Wise from his rehabilitation assignment at Class AAA Charlotte and reinstated him from the 15-day disabled list.
Quentin, 26, is hitting .229 (30-131) with 8 home runs and 20 RBI in 38 games with the White Sox in 2009. He left Monday's game at the Angels with discomfort in the foot sustained while running out a first-inning double.
The 6-foot-1, 230-pounder has hit 44 home runs since 2008, the fourth-most in the American League during that span. His 36 home runs ranked second in the AL last season despite missing the final 26 games due to a season-ending right wrist injury.
Wise, 31, has gone 5-21 (.238) in seven games with the Sox in 2009. He went 4-12 (.333) with 2 doubles and 1 RBI in three games with the Knights.
The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder was placed on the disabled list on April 14 with a separated left shoulder. Wise suffered the injury while making a diving catch on April 13 at Detroit.
