Two hurt after school bus hits car in Grayslake
Two people were slightly hurt after a school bus rear-ended their car in Grayslake Tuesday afternoon.
The bus carrying 16 softball players from Hawthorn Middle School North was traveling westbound on Route 137 when it slammed into a car near the intersection at Route 83.
The force of the crash forced that car to ram into the car in front of it, according to Grayslake Police Chief Larry Herzog.
None of the children on the bus were injured. Two of the car's passengers were transported to Advocate Condell Medical and were treated for minor injuries.
The students were heading to Grayslake Middle School for an afternoon game.
Police say the driver of the bus was looking at a map instead of keeping her eyes on the road when she hit the cars. Herzog said the driver was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
