Chicago area under Flood Watch
The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for the entire Chicago area through later tonight.
According to forecasters, the ground is already saturated and many creeks and streams are already swollen from heavy rainfall Wednesday. Any additional heavy rain will result in excess runoff and rapid rises in creeks and streams. Flash floods are possible, forecasters say.
This morning's strong storms will continue this afternoon and tonight before tapering off after midnight as a cold front moves into the area. Total rainfall amounts from this morning and into tonight will be 1 to 3 inches, with higher totals possible locally.
The low overnight will be 55.
