Let parents take their own photos

I promised my 5-year-old son that I would take him and his 5-week-old sister to see the Easter Bunny. As I stood in line, my mother pointed out a sign that said cameras could not be used beyond this point.

Disappointed, I looked at the prices for the pictures. They were ridiculous. Instead of paying these prices ($15 for one picture), I advised my son to meet the bunny and I took a picture of him in front of some shrubs on the outskirts of the "main guy."

I am surprised that with the downward spiral of our economy, that our local mall insists that we pay cash to walk away with a picture of our own child with the bunny. I have visited many malls and I have never seen such an insulting sign at any of them. I do not think that parents who are on a tight budget should have to say "no" to their children once again for something so incidental that could have been avoided by good management at Woodfield Mall.

I hope that this year, when Santa arrives, that they will rethink the sign and simply let parents decide who takes the picture.
