Sox to host celebration honoring 1959 AL champs
The White Sox will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the 1959 American League champion "Go-Go Sox" with a special pregame ceremony and a reception, which will be open to fans, on June 25.
The White Sox will play the Los Angeles Dodgers, their World Series opponents in 1959, at U.S. Cellular Field that night.
Members of the pennant-winning team will be honored prior to the game, then attend the special reception benefitting Chicago White Sox Charities.
Members of the 1959 team scheduled to attend are Hall of Famer Luis Aparicio, Jim Landis, Jim McAnany, Billy Pierce and Jim Rivera.
Fans who purchase tickets to the reception will receive:
• A spot in a 100-person Diamond Suite, with premium buffet;
• The opportunity to spend six innings of the game with the 1959 players;
• An autograph from each 1959 player in attendance; and
• A commemorative "Go-Go Sox" anniversary gift.
A limited number of tickets to the reception are $200 per person and are available by calling 312-674-5391. All proceeds from the reception will benefit Chicago White Sox Charities.
