Activists head to Capitol to lobby against CN

SPRINGFIELD-Suburban activists are headed to the state Capitol this week to support a resolution intended to address problems related to increases in Canadian National trains on local tracks. The lobbying group TRAC - The Regional Answer to Canadian National - is upset by public safety concerns and traffic congestion it foresees from trains added when CN purchased the former EJ&E Railway. The resolution, which will be introduced in the state Senate later this week, asks President Obama to appoint a third member to the United States Surface Transportation Board. Supporters want a new member added to the board - which approved the merger of CN and EJ&E.
