Woman's body pulled from Spoon River

LONDON MILLS -- Authorities say they recovered the body of a Peoria County woman from the Spoon River a day after witnesses saw flood waters wash away her car as she tried to cross Illinois Route 29.

The woman, 47-year-old Susan Hogue of Elmwoood, was pronounced dead Sunday afternoon shortly after the Knox County Search and Rescue Team and staff from the Illinois Department of Conservation pulled her body from the water.

An autopsy was scheduled for Monday.

The search for Hogue and her car began early Saturday morning, but was suspended for the day after several hours because of high water on the river.
