Carpentersville man denies child rape charge

A Carpentersville man pleaded not guilty Friday in Kane County Circuit Court to charges he raped an 11-year-old girl.

Nestor Perez, 20, of the 100 block of Golfview Lane, appeared in front of Judge Thomas Mueller on seven counts of predatory criminal sexual assault and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Mueller said Perez faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted of the most serious offense.

Authorities have said the victim knew Perez and was assaulted at her home on Aug. 1, 2007.

On Friday, prosecutors said they would provide the court with transcripts from an interview with the child and a sex-offender evaluation for Perez.

Perez has no prior criminal history and remained in the county jail in lieu of a $500,000 bond. He returns to court June 26.
