Mother pleads not guilty in taped fight
URBANA -- A Champaign mother has pleaded not guilty to urging her 15-year-old daughter to fight another girl in a confrontation later posted on YouTube.
Dawn Morris was charged Friday in an Urbana court with one count of contributing to the criminal delinquency of a juvenile. The 37-year-old woman is jailed on $50,000 bond. Her next court date is May 26.
Police arrested Morris Thursday after school officials called them about the video of the fight.
Police say a tape of the fight recorded by someone using a cell phone camera allegedly showed Morris urging her daughter to fight another 15-year-old in a park near their high school.
Champaign County State's Attorney Julia Rietz says the girls are each charged with one count of aggravated battery.
