No. 2 Latin King in Chicago sentenced to 20 years
A federal judge has sentenced a man who authorities say is the second-highest ranking member of the Latin Kings gang in the Chicago area to 20 years in prison for drug conspiracy.
Prosecutors had asked for at least 45 years in prison for 38-year-old Fernando King. They say he's responsible for narcotics trafficking and murder.
But Judge David Coar said Friday that King could only be sentenced for the crimes for which he was convicted. He got concurrent sentences of 240 months for unlawful possession of a controlled substance and 120 months for conspiracy to possess a controlled substance.
King told the judge he is not a monster and would give up life in a gang if he got the chance. He called himself a "very positive person."
