This is no way to run a post office

Where is the management at the Elk Grove Post Office? My reason for dreading the Elk Grove Post Office is the scheduling for the windows. I have never arrived at the post office when there has not been a line.

The consensus among customers is the longer the line gets, the more people they pull off the window. I showed up at 4:30 this past Wednesday to purchase stamps for my company. There were three postal employees at windows helping people and about seven or eight people in front of me. Then I realized the one window was closed, apparently a manager was trying to help someone. Then I realized that the one of the other two was closing.

That left one poor postal employee to handle the entire line while her manager encouraged others to use the machines in the lobby. Unfortunately the majority of transactions could not be handled by the machines. Within 10-15 minutes the line had swelled to 17 people. It would seem to me that they could have found someone to help out the poor lady left to deal with the crowd, knowing that it was a busier time but they didn't.

Everyone in line offered their thanks for assistance and luck for handling the rest of her shift working solo to this lone postal employee who handled her self quite well.

Why can't the post office schedule window coverage so people don't have to wait 30 minutes to buy stamps?
