New on DVD
"Beethoven's Big Break"
The entire family will enjoy the latest installment in the successful Beethoven movie series. We get a good ensemble cast that includes "The Dog Whisperer," Cesar Milan, in his feature film debut.
Animal handler Eddie (Jonathan Silverman) works with many animals, but won't allow any in his home. That changes when his son Billy (Moises Arias) brings home a stray St. Bernard named Beethoven and his family of puppies. When dognappers take the canine star of the movie that Eddie is working on, the studio has to find a replacement right away, and turns to Eddie. Beethoven becomes a star and Eddie has added a member to his family.
Kids will love the music of the Jonas Brothers, Everlife, High City Miles and Rihanna while enjoying Stephen Tobolwsky as the villain, Sal.
"Christmas Story: Ultimate Collector's Edition"
This terrific movie is as good to watch in June as it is in December. The Jean Shepherd classic takes place in Indiana and tells the story of a 9-year-old boy named Ralphie (Peter Billingsley) who dreams of getting a genuine Red Ryder Air Rifle as his perfect Christmas gift. His parents fear he will hurt himself, and we watch many of Ralphie's adventures throughout the wonderful film.
The 25th Ultimate Edition includes full-screen and widescreen editions, a 48-Page recipe book with festive film photos, chef's apron, five cookie cutters, director's commentary, featurettes, Jean Shepherd audio readings and more.
"Frost/Nixon:The Watergate Interviews"
Ron Howard's film has brought a new interest in these interviews, and there were a total of four 90-minute segments. This one dealt with Watergate and it was the first interview that President Nixon had done since his resignation. Unrehearsed and spontaneous, it was seen by 45 million people, and Nixon did not expect to be confronted by the easygoing David Frost.
It was the closest that Nixon came to admitting guilt. The other volumes will be released next year.
