Abusharif murder trial continues
Testimony of Villa Park police officers who began the investigation into Becky Klein's disappearance took up most of the second day of Nicole Abusharif's murder trial Thursday. Abusharif is accused of killing Klein in March 2007 by suffocation. Klein's body was found a day after she was reported missing in the trunk of a Ford Mustang owned by Abusharif and stored in the garage at the couple's home. The two women had been dating for about six years. Officers said they spent the first day of the investigation searching the house and detached garage where the car was stored, but Abusharif told detectives she did not have a key to the trunk of the Mustang. Prosecutors allege Abusharif killed Klein for a $400,000 life and mortgage insurance policy. Prosecutors also told Circuit Judge John Kinsella Thursday they believe the trial will last longer than the week originally planned because of the defense's lengthy cross examinations.
