Gin Blossoms to headline New Year's Eve Rock 'n' Roll Ball

The Gin Blossoms, who produced a string of huge hits in the 1990s, will headline the annual New Year's Eve Rock 'n' Roll Ball in Rosemont. In addition to the Gin Blossoms, the Rock 'n' Roll Ball will offer a slew of other live acts and DJs.

The Gin Blossoms perform with the Nicholas Tremulis Orchestra Thursday, Dec. 31, at the InterContinental Chicago O'Hare hotel, 5300 N. River Road, Rosemont. An $85 ticket grants admission to the show as well as open bar from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

Sweet music

Rock Candy, a local party band that plays an energetic mix of '80s tunes and contemporary rock/hip-hop, is the featured attraction at the Q101 NYE Bash at the Cubby Bear in Lincolnshire. A $40 ticket gets you admission to the show and open bar.

The Bare facts

If neither of those shows is your thing, you can't go wrong this New Year's Eve by taking a trip into the city and spending it at Schuba's. The club is hosting Bobby Bare Jr., son of Nashville country great Bobby Bare and an electrifying live performer in his own right.
