Ex-teacher ordered imprisoned in sex case

MOUNT VERNON -- A former Carbondale teacher has been ordered to spend the next decade in prison for sexually attacking a boy.

Forty-year-old David Cameron of Marion was sentenced last week in Jefferson County, seven months after pleading guilty to predatory criminal sexual assault.

He's the last of six people sentenced to prison for a child porn ring police broke up five years ago.

Cameron apologized before being sentenced and said his inappropriate conduct was because he'd been drinking and thought the victim was older. He says he's undergone counseling for depression and bipolar disorder.

Cameron's attorney had sought the minimum prison sentence of six years.
