Media, Democrats wrong on Tea Parties

Over the last few days, it has become painfully obvious to me that those who were not part of the Tea Parties on April 15 have no idea what they are about.

This sentiment is made all too clear by the spouting of "AstroTurf" from congressional Democrats and claims that we are "protesting taxes" by most media outlets.

It is my greatest fear that public opinion of these protests will be based on (quite frankly) the general ignorance of elitists and liberal think-tanks.

It is with fury and disdain that I am writing this letter in hopes of making a few things very clear about what exactly happened on April 15 all across this nation.

To begin, let me make it abundantly clear that this is not what some would call an "AstroTurf" movement. This word - AstroTurf - implies that the motivation behind these protests are fabricated by the rich elite and propagated down to the unsuspecting Republican, rather than from the "grass roots" of traditional conservatism.

These accusations are nothing more than petty politics at its worst. It's simply a way for politicians to avoid having to actually talk about what's going on in the country; a way of sticking their heads in the sand.

These protests are not about taxes. They are about how the last few decades, our representatives have somehow gotten the idea that they are in Washington to help us back on the "homefront." They are not. We sent them there to serve us. And they have done nothing but serve us debt after debt after debt. They have given us the bill for $12 TRILLION ($4 trillion more than is actually in U.S. circulation).

I'd hate to use a cliché, but it fits. We are sick and tired of being sick and tired.
