Hammond man found dead on South Side

Chicago police say the body of a 31-year-old Indiana man has been found on the city's South Side.

Chicago police say Nathaniel Hoover of Hammond Ind., was found before 3 p.m. Sunday.

The Cook County medical examiner's office says Hoover was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. He was pronounced dead shortly after.

Police say Hoover had been shot in the chest and left shoulder.

Chicago police spokeswoman JoAnn Taylor says preliminary reports show the shooting did not occur where Hoover was found. She did not have further details.

Chicago police are investigating.
