Madigan sues school that received $1M state grant
Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan has sued a private school that mistakenly received a $1 million state grant from former Gov. Rod Blagojevich's administration.
Madigan on Friday sued Loop Lab School for court oversight of the school's assets.
The suit asks for the appointment of a third party to investigate what happened to $950,000 the school earned from the sale of a downtown property.
The Lab purchased the property in May 2007 with the grant. The administration had meant for the money to help rebuild Pilgrim Baptist Church after a fire. The school was a church tenant.
The suit says directors Chandra Gill and Cheryl Gill didn't file a 2007 annual report and lost the Lab's not-for-profit status.
A message left at the school wasn't returned.
