Arrest made in Waukegan accidental shooting
An Indiana man has been arrested and charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon after accidentally shooting his Waukegan girlfriend in the shoulder, police said. Police also charged Marcus Lockridge, 24, of the 1200 block of N. Elliott, Evansville, IN., with reckless discharge of a firearm, Waukegan Police Cmdr. Wayne Walles said. Police were called to Vista West Medical Center where the woman was being treated for a gunshot wound. Officers spoke with her and learned she was with Lockridge in an apartment in the 2700 block of Westwood Drive where Lockridge was allegedly playing with a .38 caliber handgun. Walles said the pistol accidentally fired, and the bullet hit the victim in the shoulder and lodged in her back. Lockridge appeared at a bond hearing early Thursday and remains in custody in lieu of a $100,000 bond. The woman has been treated and released from Vista West.
