Mulder's architectural reviews are valuable
Mayor Mulder has skillfully sought out and appointed five talented architects who donate their time 26 meetings per year to steward the design and detail elements of important commercial and major residential projects.
Without question, the project quality has been elevated through the presence of the Design Commission without causing delay in the approval process. The review time has been streamlined by providing applicants, who qualify, a staff administrative review. The Arlington Heights staff liaison, Afsha Hamid, is qualified with an architecture degree. The administrative process allows the five architects to be freed up with more time each meeting to carefully study and review important projects.
In 2008 174 projects were processed. So far this year in January and February, 33 projects have been reviewed. Mayor Arlene Mulder continues to support good quality design that has been the standard that I am proud to identify with Arlington Heights.
