"The Best of Star Trek: The Original Series"
The latest "Star Trek" film was the No. 1 movie in America last week grossing over $76 million at the box office. With renewed interest in everything "Star Trek" comes this new collection of four of the best episodes from the original series.
The episodes "The Trouble with Tribbles," "Amok Time," "The City on the Edge of Forever" and "Balance of Terror," have been digitally remastered with enhanced special effects and retail for $14.99.
"The Best of Star Trek: The Next Generation"
The longest running of all the Star Trek television series, "The Next Generation" features the Enterprise-D led by Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) and Commander William T. Riker (Jonathan Frakes). Their team includes Geordi LaForge (Levar Burton), Lt. Worf (Michael Dorn), Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden), Deanna Troi (Marina Sirtis) and Data (Brent Spiner) who provide a foundation for many of the story lines in the episodes.
The four that are featured are "The Best of Both Worlds: Part One and Two," "Yesterday's Enterprise" and "The Measure of a Man." They have been digitally remastered with enhanced special effects, and retail for $14.99.
"A Galaxy Far Away: 10th Anniversary Edition"
In 1999, director Tariq Jalil decided to make a documentary on the rabid fans and the franchise of "Star Wars." He shows how the films crossed across all races, genders and generations. Jalil shows the fans who camped out for over a month waiting for the opening of "The Phantom Menace." Jalil films fans who waited outside Toys R Us at midnight across the country to purchase the new Star Wars toys. He also visited conventions, nationwide premiers, went to fans' homes and more.
The DVD features archival footage and interviews with Samuel L. Jackson, Roger Corman, Joe Pesci, Dennis Franz, Andy Garcia, David Prowse (Darth Vader), Anthony Daniels (C3-PO), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) and more. In the end, it brings together fans who are fascinating and passionate.
"Barbra Streisand: The Concerts"
Fans of Barbra Streisand will absolutely love this three-disc DVD box set. It includes 17 songs never released on DVD, along with access to Barbra like never before.
The first disc is from her record-breaking 2006 North American tour and her Ft. Lauderdale show with guest stars "Il Divo." Special features include five additional songs, interviews and more. The second disc is her unforgettable 1994 concert at Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim, which was her first concert in 27 years. The third disc includes the making of "The Broadway Album," performances from her many television specials, clips from her childhood, interviews and more.
"3 Mo' Divas"
Many people discovered this unique group of women on their PBS special which was broadcast in March of this year. Sopranos Nova Y. Payton, Janet Pitman and Laurice Lanier are all classically trained, and their show consists of songs from Broadway musicals, gospel, jazz, blues and more. They have sold-out concerts across the country, and this one was filmed at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. Songs from the exciting show include "God Bless the Child," "I'm Every Woman," "Lullaby of Broadway," "Quando m'en vo," "Seasons of Love" and "Lady Sings the Blues."
