Sox' Floyd finishes spring with 2.42 ERA
PHOENIX - White Sox starter Gavin Floyd was sharp in his final spring tuneup Thursday, allowing 2 hits and 1 run in 5 innings with 4 walks and 5 strikeouts as the Sox fell 2-1 to the Milwaukee Brewers.
Floyd finished the spring with a 2.42 ERA and gave up only 22 hits in 26 innings.
"Gavin was outstanding once again," manager Ozzie Guillen said. "I like what he did today, getting into a jam and getting a groundball double play to get it out of it. He's cruised this spring, so he needed that."
Wilson Betemit had an RBI double in the first inning for the Sox' run. Center fielder Dewayne Wise made the trip but was a late scratch because he wasn't feeling well. Michael Restovich started in Wise's place.
