Motorists under siege of pranks in Campton Hills

Driving through Campton Hills after dark might be a serious hazard to your health, or at least your car.

Police Chief Greg Anderson issued an alert Friday asking for help in tracking down the individuals responsible for a series of dangerous pranks pulled on motorists traveling on Burlington Road.

Police received several reports in recent weeks about motorists that have hard lasers pointed at them. In another instance, plastic wrap was stretched across the road. Most recently, a chair was placed at the side of the road and yanked into a car by someone as it passed by, damaging the car.

Anderson said in a written release that similar pranks occurred in the past on Empire Road.

"This type of behavior can have serious repercussions," Anderson said. "It is probably that these offenders live in that area of Burlington and Brierwood."

Several mailboxes were also recently smashed near Empire Road, on Knollwood Drive and White Oak Lane. It's unclear if the incidents are related.

Anderson asks anyone with information about the people committing the pranks and vandalism to contact the Campton Hills Police Department at (630) 584-0330.
