Morality ultimate measures our worth

Amassing riches does not necessarily equate to an expanded state of happiness or complete fulfillment. Like a drug addiction, opposite of an elixir, there's always that next great acquisition out on the horizon.

Greed piloted us into this economic turmoil. It can be easy to get caught up in the grip of flawed emotions. Similar to the tip of an iceberg that won't reveal what is below the surface, your vision sometimes becomes clouded.

On the other end of the spectrum, there are countless stories of noble acts hidden from public view. These delegations of selfless heroes, who deflect from always placing themselves first in line, motivate and inspire others with a welcomed sense of optimism.

From the grandfather in Milwaukee who bought a piece of metal at a garage sale and discovered it was a billion year old meteorite worth over a hundred thousand dollars. Who, after investigating returned it for free, to the museum in Arizona where it had been stolen forty years ago.

To the professional superstar DWade, who after scoring a franchise record, gave the jersey off his back to a nine year old boy who lost his arms and legs to a bacterial infection because this little boys' courage in dealing with adversity, inspires an elite athlete.

The time is ripe for highlighting convictions, values and behaviors associated with promoting decency. Between that grandfather and that athlete, lay us. In the crossroad of greed and sacrifice, we stand. How you proceed, will determine if we as a society can escape to a brighter tomorrow.
