Filing taxes on deadline costs us

Must we be subjected to the yearly news stories of these midnight hour tax filers? The only prudent reason to file last minute is if you owe the government money. The best strategy is to figure the taxes ASAP, then file immediately if you are owed a refund, but wait til the deadline to submit if you must pay.

What's more, the U.S. Post Office appeases tax filing procrastinators by paying employees to work after normal hours which is a waste of money, and even more of a detriment because the U.S. Government now is especially strapped for funds.

Why isn't this pandering to those who are deadline-challenged halted because it wastes money?
