Slaughter now 6-0 after beating Fort Wayne 56-41

The Chicago Slaughter rolled to is sixth straight win Saturday night, easily dispatching a Fort Wayne squad 56-41 at Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Donovan Morgan of the Slaughter had eight reception, four of them touchdown grabs from quarterback Russ Michna, for 157 yards and a Continental Indoor Football League record.

Fort Wayne took a 14-7 lead early after a Nick Body six-yard touchdown pass from Randy Hutchison with 12:38 left in the second quarter, but Fort Wayne didn't score again until the six-minute mark of the third period. Chicago, meanwhile, ran off 27 unanswered points to take control of the contest.

Reggie Gray's 55-yard kick return on the ensuing kickoff after Body's score made it 14-13 and Morgan's first scoring catch of the night, a 21-yarder, made it 20-14 with 1:21 left in the half.

Morgan then hauled in a 38-yard scoring aerial early in the third to give the Slaughter a 27-14 advantage. Keith Herron's six-yard touchdown catch with 7:22 left gave the Slaughter its largest lead, 34-14, of the night.

On the night, Michna was 18-of-24 for 235 yards and 6 touchdowns, but threw 3 interceptions. Hutchison was 22-of-47 for 146 yards and 5 touchdowns.

The Slaughter returns home to the Sears Center in Hoffman Estates for a rematch with the Milwaukee Bonecrushers (2-3) at 7 p.m. Saturday. Chicago beat Milwaukee 84-24 in its home opener.
