Arlington Heights
• Thieves stole a men's dark blue bicycle with a baby seat attachment, value estimated at $600, locked to a bike rack in an apartment courtyard on the 2600 block of North Windsor Drive between 4 p.m. Aug. 28 and 8:30 a.m. Sept. 1.
• Burglars stole a youth's nylon jacket and a black canvas bag with a digital camera and personal papers out of a 2004 Chrysler Concord in a hotel lot at 3400 W. Euclid Ave. between 7 p.m. Aug. 29 and 9:30 a.m. Aug. 30. The burglars left behind a Chicago White Sox baseball cap and a set of keys with a Jewel Food Store preferred card tag that did not belong to the victims.
• Burglars stole a GPS unit and DVD player out of a 2006 Kia Sedona and a few bottles of men's cologne out of a 1997 Ford pickup truck in a driveway on the 0-100 block of East Brookwood Court between 11:30 p.m. Aug. 29 and 8 a.m. Aug. 30. The in-dash stereo in the Ford was left hanging from the dashboard. Loss was estimated at $500.
Elk Grove Village
• Thieves broke into five shipping containers and took $60,000 of clothing over the weekend of Aug. 28 in the 1600 block of Tonne Road.
• Steven J. Ritt, 26, of the 700 block of Pahl Road, Elk Grove Village, was arrested Aug. 21 and charged with burglary. About 3 a.m., an alert neighbor observed a man enter an unlocked car and remove items and then an unlocked garage in the 700 block of Pahl Road and called police. Police apprehended Ritt leaving the garage with items, officials said. His court date is Sept. 25. Ritt also was arrested Aug. 1 on the 1100 block of Driftwood Court and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and obstructing justice. His court date on those charges is Sept. 11.
• Thieves sometime in August took two rings and a box of picture frames worth $700 from a woman's room in the 1400 block of Volkamer Trail.

• Vandals keyed the driver and passenger side of a 2005 Infiniti Q35 parked in the 900 block of Perrie Drive and flattened two tires, doing $1,000 damage, on Sept. 2.
Wheeling
•Two males broke into a 2004 Toyota Camry in an apartment lot on the 500 block of Greystone Lane about 2:30 a.m. Aug. 21 and attempted to steal a GPS unit. They dropped it and fled when a witness shouted at them.
• Burglars stole a GPS unit, radar detector and MP3 player out of a 2005 Nissan Frontier pickup truck on the 1100 block of Woodbury Court between 6:30 p.m. Aug. 20 and 4:45 a.m. Aug. 21.
• A male in his mid-20s kicked in a garage service door at a home on the 800 block of McHenry Road about 6:45 a.m. Aug. 22 but ran away when the victim remotely started the car parked in the garage to scare him.
• Two male broke into a Dodge Sprinter work truck on the 500 block of Allendale Drive around 4:40 p.m. Aug. 22 but fled without taking anything when witnesses saw them sitting in the truck.
• Burglars broke into a Chevrolet van on the 400 block of Manda Lane between 7 p.m. Aug. 26 and 9:10 a.m. Aug. 27 and stole a GPS unit. Loss was estimated at $300.
• Daniel M. Horvat, 35, of the 1400 block of Cattail Run, Gurnee, was arrested around 3:45 p.m. Aug. 23 at Walgreens, 10 N. Milwaukee Ave., and charged with possession of a controlled substance and attempt to acquire a controlled substance by fraud. Reports said he used a fake form to purchase a prescription narcotic.
• Carlos Carbajal, 23, of the 400 block of North Walnut Avenue, Wheeling, was arrested around 4:10 a.m. Aug. 23 at East Jeffrey and Park avenues and charged with possession of a controlled substance (cocaine).
• Jessica Zidron, 18, of the 500 block of East Merle Lane, Wheeling, was arrested around 6:20 p.m. Aug. 23 on the 1000 block of West Dundee Road and charged with possession and theft of stolen property after an officer found her with a stolen bicycle. Her court date is Sept. 15.
