Dundee Twp. Visitor's Center now open for the season

Bikers, bladers, walkers and strollers take note, the Dundee Township Visitor's Center, 319 N. River St. in East Dundee, has opened its doors for the season.

Located next to the Fox River Bicycle Trail, the depot will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays. Extended weekday hours will be added in June and July.

May 9 is also opening day for the Old Dundee Farmers Market, which is held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays on the depot grounds. The market typically features more than 40 vendors each week selling locally grown produce, bedding plants and flowers, plus antiques, jewelry and collectibles. New vendors are always welcome. For details about vendor space, call (847) 742-3432.

Run by a volunteer board of directors, the Dundee Township Visitor's Center is a popular stop for bike trail users in need of snacks, beverages, or a restroom. It's also home to the annual largest tomato and Great Pumpkin contests.

Depot visitors will find Dundee-themed merchandise for sale, including newly designed Fox River Trail T-shirts and Dundee history books, plus a variety of free maps and information about area restaurants, attractions, and the 60-mile Fox River Bicycle Trail.

The Dundee Township Visitor's Center is funded with donations and booth fees from the farmers market. Volunteers are available to answer questions about the area and give directions and suggestions.
